Suspicious Email Warning
North Yorkshire Council’s Cyber Security Team have reported to us that numerous members of NYC staff have received an email which appears to be from Embsay School wishing to share admin details via email.
We can confirm that this is a spam email and is not from the school themselves. The school are aware and have issued a statement on their website.
If you see this email arrive in your inbox, please delete it and do not click on any of the links contained within it.
Spam and phishing emails are increasingly very sophisticated and we can all get caught out by them. If you think you may have clicked on a link which wasn’t genuine, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can check that no one has gained unauthorised access to your account or other devices on your network.
Please be vigilant when going through your emails. Hackers will try to get you to click on harmful content by inserting what seems to be a genuine link into emails often appearing to be from someone you may know.
Please be sure that you know who the sender is and that the email and content received is genuine before clicking on any links contained within them.
If you have any doubt about a sender or content of an email, please contact us and we will verify it for you.
Should you wish to undertake training in order to help you and your staff to identify and deal with spam emails, please have a look at the BoxPhish training at NYES.info
