MIS Autumn 2024 Newsletter

by | Sep 23, 2024 | Latest News

Welcome back!

We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are all settling into the new academic year.

Attendance codes

You will have seen our recent communication that from 19th August 2024 there are several changes to attendance codes. For a full list of available attendance codes please view Chapter 8 of the DfE guidance Working together to improve school attendance (link here)

RBA

RBA is the Reception Baseline Assessment, which became statutory for schools in September 2021. Schools must carry out the assessments within the first 6 weeks of pupils starting reception. Schools can upload pupil data, (preferably via CTF), and administer assessments via the NFER Reception Baseline portal (link here). If you want help exporting or uploading your CTF, please tell us.

Pupil Premium import

Schools can download a CSV file from the GIAP (Get information about pupils) containing details of the pupils for whom the school is receiving pupil premium funding. Login to DfE Secure Access – here is a handy link for you to login click here to view, go to Get information about pupils – if you do not have this you will need to request access by clicking the link in the top right-hand corner (request access to a service)

Schools can then download the latest CSV file and import it into their MIS to update their pupil premium information.

Autumn School Census 3rd October 2024

The October census is fast approaching! Just a reminder that we are offering MIS specific training sessions in the lead up to census day and can also offer bespoke 1-2-1s if you would prefer. We have census guidance documentation for all the MIS systems we support. We will publish these on our website shortly and the link to access the guidance will be emailed to you as well. We also run a dedicated census helpline on Census Day (01609 536086 option *) where we will be on hand to answer any queries you may have or assist you in submitting your return.

MIS Discovery Days 7th and 8th October

Is your current MIS contract ending soon? Are you thinking of changing your MIS system? We are working with the MIS suppliers on the NYES Digital MIS Framework to offer demonstrations over the 7th and 8th October to showcase their systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to look at the different MIS systems, even if your current MIS agreement is not due for renewal just yet. We invite you to join the sessions to explore your options. More details on the times for the sessions and instructions on how to register will follow shortly.

School Workforce Census 7th November 2024

7th November is School Workforce Census Day. The census collects data on all teaching and support staff in regular employment. Local authorities are responsible for collating and submitting data from all maintained schools. Academies are responsible for submitting and approving their own census data. We will be sending out School Workforce Census (SWC) guidance notes closer to the time to assist you with preparing and producing the census. We are running SWC training sessions for Bromcom, SIMS, ScholarPack and Arbor Schools, if you think this would be of use to you, you can book a place here. We can also offer bespoke 1-2-1 training sessions, if that would be of benefit to you.

New NYES Portal
